PROTECT-A ECOTEK 1K is a bituminous, rubber modified, water based, one component and liquid waterproofing membrane.

Foundation tanking.
Curtain walls.
Indoor wet volumes.
Vertical and horizontal surfaces.
Can be used as a primer (after thinning with water) under bituminous membrane applications.
Retaining walls.
Both as a primer and a bonding agent for glass wool insulation applications.
As a bonding agent for insulation board applications (perimeter insulation).

Application surface should be clean, dry, smooth and free from dirt, dust, oil, wax, mildew, tar, old paint and any other bond breaking residues.
All kinds of loose, dusty, cracked, crusted and pre-painted surfaces should be cleaned by blasting, sanding, brushing (with a wire brush) and / or with the aid of a machine (pressurized water spray or sandblasting).
Wooden or iron wedges must be removed from the surface and active water leakages must be prevented.
Gaps and holes on the surface must be filled.
At least 1500 – 2000 psi water pressure should be used for washing the application surfaces with pressurized water.
Loose rust, rust formations attached to the metal surfaces or white rust on the metal surface should be removed from the surface using the methods mentioned above.
Damaged or weathered surfaces should be repaired. Surfaces containing old paint and uneven surfaces should be sanded.
Inside corners and wall joints should be chamfered.
Priming the surface with the diluted product mixture or 033 Bituminous Primer is highly recommended.
First layer application should be done after primer application is cured.
The surfaces that will decrease the adherence of the material must be roughened.
Apply the product equally in two layers on the substrate with brush, trowel or spray equipment.
Second layer should be applied after the first layer is cured completely. Direction of application of second layer must be vertical to application direction of the first layer.

Do not apply the product under the rain or prediction of rainy weather. Application must be protected from direct sun-light, wind, frost or rain for at least 24 hours.
Coating has to be applied on the surfaces of the structure or the structure’s parts that are in contact with water.
In order to complete the curing process, environmental and surface temperatures must not drop below the minimum allowed temperature. Wait for the appropriate ambient and the substrate temperature, if it is less than 5°C or more than 35°C.
Areas that are not fully cured must not be exposed to water.
