Description

PROTECT-A 021 T LATEX is a liquid waterproofing admixture material that fills the capillary gaps and pores by reacting with cement and sand in the the concrete and mortar mixtures.

Area of Use

  • In exterior plaster and screed applications.
  • Terraces, balconies, flat roofs and planters.
  • Pools, channels and water tanks.
  • To be used with ceramic adhesive mortars.
  • In cement repair mortars.
  • To be used with corrosion resistant coatings.

Product Features and Advantages

  • Provides water impermeability.
  • Water vapor permeable.
  • Single component, no mixing required.
  • Supplied ready-to-use for cold application.
  • High elasticity.
  • Increases chemical resistance.
  • Increases abrasion resistance.
  • High freeze-thaw stability.

Application Instructions

  • Make sure the intended application surface is solid and free from any frost, ponded water, oil, grease, paraffin, coatings, cement grout, any loose and weak particles or any other contaminants that could affect the process.
  • However, the application surface must be moistened before the application.
  • Moistening application must be conducted twice, first 24 hours before the application and then 2 hours before the application until the surface becomes water-logged.
  • Surface should be prepared with appropriate mechanical preparation techniques (with the help of high-pressure washer and/or with the help of other abrasive equipment).
  • All dust, loose and materials that can easily crumble should be removed from the surface either with the help of a brush or by vacuuming.
  • While being used as a primer for screed (Old-New concrete primer) one cup concrete and one cup of angular sand (size 0-3mm) should be dry mixed. Into this powder mixture a liquid mixture comprised of 1 cup of Protect LATEX and 3 cups of water is added. This end mixture should be mixed until it is homogenous. The prepared mortar is applied to the moistened surfaces with a stiff brush and then screed should be poured on it without allowing it to dry. The prepared
mixture should be applied via a thick brush, creating a 2mm thick layer, on to the moistened surface (the surface must be moistened 12 hours before the application). Before the mixture dries, new concrete or screed should be placed and the mixture should be allowed to dry. If the mixture dries on the surface, since it will lose its adherence enhancing feature, the mixture should be re-applied before the application of a new concrete, screed or cement-based repair mortar. The tensile strength on the surface after the application, will be over 1,5 Mpa.
  • While being used in screed preparation, one cup concrete and 3-4 cups of angular sand (size 0-3mm) should be dry mixed. Into this powder mixture a liquid mixture comprised of 1 cup of Protect LATEX and 3 cups of water is added. The prepared mortar should be applied to the primed surface with the help of a trowel or wedge brush. The mixture must be applied before the surface primer dries.
  • While being used in screed preparation on industrial floors, 1 m³ Aggregate of appropriate grain size, at least 475 kg of cement, 200 kg of water, 4 kg of Protect LATEX 021 and 8 kg of Protect Jet 022 should be mixed. Then the primer is applied on to the floor. Then the mixture should be applied on top of the primer without allowing the primer to dry (wet on wet). Protect Jet 022 will provide quick setting and fast drying.
  • While being used as a mortar, one cup concrete and one cup of angular sand (size 0-3mm) should be dry mixed. Into this powder mixture a liquid mixture comprised of 1 cup of Protect LATEX and 3 cups of water is added. This end mixture should be mixed until it is homogenous. The prepared mortar is spattered on the moistened surfaces (the surface must bemoistened 12 hours before the application) and should be left to dry for 24 hours. Before the next application (Plaster or ceramic adhesive applications) the surface must be moistened again. The mortar application must be dense enough to be able to cover %50 of the application surface.
  • In situations where the application is required to dry faster, we highly recommend using Protect Jet 022. In such applicationsthe required Protect Jet 022 amount is always 2 cups.
