Description

PROTECT-A CER 035 2K is a semi-elastic, waterproofing material consisting of a cement-based powder component and a polymer emulsion-based liquid component.

Area of Use

  • Wet volumes (bathrooms, kitchens and balconies, ornamental pools, small volume water tanks, etc.)
  • Terraces before the coating material, as a waterproofing material.
  • Indoors and outdoors.
  • Horizontal and vertical surfaces.

Product Features and Advantages

  • High adhesion strength.
  • Water repellent, resistant to water and frost.
  • Creates seamless insulation on the applied surfaces.
  • All kinds of coating materials can be applied on it.
  • Semi-elastic.
  • Easy to prepare and apply.
  • Solvent-free and environmentally friendly.

Application Instructions

  • Application surface should be clean, dry, smooth and free from dirt, dust, oil, wax, mildew, tar, old paint and any other bond breaking residues.
  • Surface defects with a depth of more than 1 cm should be restored at least 6-8 hours before the application.
  • Concrete and cement-based plaster surfaces should be moistened with clean water. Before starting the application, it is necessary to wait for the surface to absorb the water.
  • After the surface is cleaned and repaired, the surface should be primed with a single layer and left to dry for 1-3 hours in order to increase the adhesion strength between layers and balance the surface absorbency.
  • Powder is added to the liquid part in a clean container and mixed with a 400-600 rpm mixer for 3-5 minutes until a homogenous and lump-free mixture is obtained. After letting it rest for 3-5 minutes and mixing again for an additional 30 seconds, the material becomes ready for use. Product should be applied to the surface at least two times in order to obtain a dry film thickness of 2 mm. After the first coat is completely dry, the second and the following coatings should be done perpendicular to the previous applications to ensure the continuity of the insulation.
  • Chamfering should be made with the repair mortar on the joints of edges and corners.
  • In cases where chamfering is not possible, tape should be applied in areas that are weak in terms of water impermeability, such as edge joints.
  • Depending on the feature of the application surface, application can also be done by placing a mesh between two layers when necessary. In cases that require mesh reinforcement, the mesh must be placed on the first coating before it dries.

Application Notes

  • During the coating process over insulation, care should be taken not to damage the insulation material with mechanical effects.
  • It should not be applied against negative water pressure.
  • The product should be used within the pot life after the mixing process. Products that have reached the end of their pot life should never be used during application.
  • During the application, no foreign materials should be added into the mixture other than the components of the product.
  • It should not be applied on uneven surfaces.
  • The strength and bearing of old surfaces should be checked before application.
  • During and after the application, the surface should be protected from air currents and contact with water should be prevented.
  • It should not be applied on substrates that are at risk of frost, frozen or that were in contact with melting ice within the past 24 hours.
  • Care should be taken not to expose the material to direct sunlight in hot weather.
  • Application should not be conducted on hot surfaces exposed to excessive winds or direct sunlight, if there is a necessity to apply in these environments, the environment and the surface should be prepared specifically for the application before the process starts.
  • It should not be applied during rainy weather; the applied surface should be protected from rain for 24 hours after the application is finished.
  • Surface and ambient temperature should be between +5°C and +35°C during application.
