Description

PROTECT-A P101 PM 2K is a polyurethane based, solvent-free, elastic waterproofing material.

Area of Use

  • Applied in wet volumes such as bathrooms, kitchens, balconies, terraces, pools, water tanks and in surfaces that are in direct contact with drinking water before the application of the waterproofing material.
  • It can be used indoors and outdoors, on horizontal and vertical surfaces.
  • It can be applied on vertical and horizontal surfaces of; concrete based plaster, concrete, ceramic, glass, aluminum, steel, bituminous felt.

Product Features and Advantages

  • 100% elastic.
  • Safe to use on surfaces that are in contact with drinking water.
  • Odorless, suitable for use in environments with poor ventilation.
  • UV resistant.
  • Water vapor permeability.
  • Maintains its mechanical properties at temperatures between -40°C and + 100°C.
  • Local repair applications are quick and easy to do.
  • Has 10% resistance to acidic and basic solutions.
  • Has high resistance against detergents, sea water, oils and lubricants.
  • Provides seamless insulation on the surfaces it is applied.
  • High adhesion strength.
  • Solvent-free, thus environmentally friendly.

Application Instructions

  • The surface must be dry, clean, sound and free from dust, oil and dirt.
  • Mortar, cement residues should be scraped.
  • Surface moisture content should be a maximum of 5%.
  • Newly erected concrete structures should be left to dry for a minimum of 28 days.
  • The application surface must not be washed with water.
  • To achieve long lasting water isolation, existing cracks and joints must be carefully closed before the application.
  • Surface errors/defects that are deeper than 1cm, must be repaired by a repair mortar, 6-8 hours before the product application.
  • After surface cleaning, in order to increase the adhesion strength and for stabilizing the absorbency of the surface.
  • PROTECT-A EA 012 G 2K General purpose epoxy primer should be applied in a single layer and should be left to dry for 8-12 hours.
  • The mixture of P101 PM 2K must be applied on a primed and still slightly sticky surface with the help of a roller or brush until the entire surface is covered.
  • The second coat should be implemented 12 hours (maximum 36 hours) after the first coat is applied.
  • Edge and corner joints should be chamfered to ensure continuity of insulation. In cases where chamfering cannot be done, tape application should be done at areas with weak water impermeability such as edges and corner joints.
  • Depending on the characteristics of the application surface, waterproofing net can be placed between the two layers when necessary.
  • In cases where the mesh supplement is required, the coating is applied first and the net is laid on it before it dries.
  • During the ceramic coating process on the insulation, application thickness should be increased by increasing consumption and the application surface must be sandblasted before full curation takes place.
  • During the process of coating application over the insulation, care should be taken not to damage the insulation material with mechanical effects. It should not be applied against negative water pressure.
  • After mixing the product, it should be used within its pot life.
  • No foreign materials should be added in to the mixture except the components of the product itself.
  • During and after the application, the surface should be protected against air currents and contact with water.
  • It should not be applied on frozen or icy surfaces or on surfaces that are at risk of frost within the next 24 hours.
  • In hot weather, care should be taken not to expose the material to direct sunlight.
  • Applications should not be made on hot surfaces or on surfaces that are in contact with excessive wind or direct sunlight.
  • Application should not be carried out in rainy weather; the applied surface should be protected from rain for 24 hours.
  • During application, the surface and ambient temperature should be between 5C and 35C. Mix Ratio: Component A (20 kg) and component B (5 kg) must be completely mixed.
  • Mixing Equipment: Low speed electric mixer (400 rpm) Special tip mixing equipment
  • Mixing Time: Component A with the help of a low-speed mixer 3 – 5 min. After 15 – 20 sec. of rest component B should be added to component A and mixed until you obtain a homogeneous mixture.
  • Equipment Cleaning: After application, the product on the equipment used should be cleaned with cellulosic tinner before it dries.
