Description

PROTECT-A PB 018 2K is a Polyurethane-bitumen modified, two component liquid waterproofing
and surface protection material.

Area of Use

  • It is used in roof terrace areas, parking lots, aircraft hangars, tunnels, asphalt and EPDM membranes,
plant beds and green roof systems, insulation of roofs made of metal or fiber cement.
  • In water tanks, in insulation of foundation and curtain concrete of constructions, irrigation channels. etc.

Product Features and Advantages

  • It adheres perfectly to all kinds of surfaces.
  • No thinning required.
  • Excellent mechanical properties provide high tensile, flexural, tear and abrasion resistance and a high elongation ability.
  • Good chemical resistance.
  • Allows for water vapor transmission.
  • The film breathes thus prevents moisture from accumulating under the coat.
  • It allows for a thick coat application and does not create bubbles.
  • It has high crack bridging and adhesion properties.
  • Easy and fast application.
  • High thermal resistance (+80 ° C and 200 ° C).
  • The applied film maintains its elasticity up to – 40 ° C. The 1/1 volume of components makes the mixing process easier.
  • Fast curing.
  • Perfectly adheres to almost any surface, primed or uncoated.
  • Although it does not require thinning, solvent can be used according to the conditions/preference.

Application Instructions

  • Existing surface must be clean, dry, flat and free of dirt, dust, oil, wax and mold.
  • All loose, dusty, cracked, crusted and pre-painted surfaces must be cleaned via scraping, sanding, brushing with a wire brush and/or with machine assistance (pressure water spray or sandblasting).
  • Water pressure must be at least 1500 – 2000 psi for exterior surface applications.
  • Loose rust, temper, rust formations attached to the surface of metal roofs or white rust accumulation on the metal surfaces should be removed from the surfaces using the above-mentioned methods.
  • Damaged or weathered surfaces must be repaired.
  • Old painted surfaces and unevenness should be sanded.
  • Depending on the surface condition; after the repairs are complete an epoxy or polyurethane based primer should be used, liquid membrane application should begin only after the priming is complete.
  • Material Preparation: Mix the product with a suitable mixer at a speed of 300 rpm for 2-3 minutes before the application.
  • Components A and B of the product are supplied in separate packages with predetermined mixing ratios. Component B is completely poured into component A and mixed with the hand mixer at 300 rpm. The material should be used immediately after mixing.
  • Pot life of the product is 20 -25 minutes at 20 ° C.
  • Prepared mixture is applied to the prepared surface with a roller, brush or spatula.
  • During application, it should be ensured that the surface temperature is above 10 ° C.
  • Different primers should be used for glossy surfaces, metal and aluminum surfaces.
  • Care must be taken to protect the applied surfaces (direct contact with water) for at least 24 hours.
  • Minimum consumption is between 1.0 and 1.6 lt / m2 depending on the application surface.
  • Cleaning After Application: The equipment used during the application should be cleaned with a suitable solvent immediately after the application.
  • Depending on the surface condition, liquid membrane application should be started after priming with a suitable epoxy or polyurethane based primer. Surfaces to be applied must have at least the following standards:

Hardness: R28 = 15 mPa
Temperature: 5°C to 35°C
Relative Humidity: <85%
